Biunial Magic Lanterns

Biunial lanterns are magic lanterns with two separate projection systems which are placed one over the other. The combination of two projection systems allows the lanternist to superimpose on the same screen two images for dissolving views or other special effects.

In the second half of the XIX century the ownership of a biunial lantern was a mark of prestige for every self-respecting lanternist.

This biunial lantern (68 cm. high) was made by Walls and Fraser (Edimburgh) in 1890.
